**Jonny Wilkinson believes England are capable of producing a much improved display as Argentina target another Twickenham triumph on Saturday.**Coach Martin Johnson has made four changes to his side after the 18-9 defeat by Australia.

Hooker Dylan Hartley, prop Duncan Bell, flanker James Haskell and scrum-half Paul Hodgson all come into the team.

“We are a team that wants to play with the ball. We want to score tries and I think they’ll come,” says Wilkinson.

"It is always exciting to have Haskell around and on the field. He is energetic and an impact player.

“‘Hodgey’ is very familiar with what we are doing and he has the experience of the kind of gameplan we want to play from his days under [England attack coach] Brian Smith. He will bring a good organisation edge as well as a bit of know-how.”

Johnson, too, expects a step up in class from his England side.

“The confidence in the squad is still good and we showed that, when we’re on our game we can cause the best sides problems,” he told BBC Sport.

"We know the situation with the squad and what’s happened (with injuries) - that’s what you have to deal with in Test match rugby. This group have come together very quickly in three weeks.

"The most encouraging thing from our point of view is that there’s a huge amount of improvement left in us. Last week, we left opportunities out there, dropped off in our intensity a bit at times, and were punished.

“But this week we’ll be better for playing a match, getting used to the pace and intensity, the players having played together, and I fully expect us to improve.”

England’s bid will be aided by the absence of key Argentina playmakers Juan Martin Hernandez and Felipe Contepomi, plus wingers Lucas Amorosini and Gonzalo Camacho.

But Wilkinson, who marked his return to Test rugby last week with a stand-out performance against Australia which included a mammoth 20 tackles, will not be under-estimating the Pumas.

“Hernandez and Contepomi are world class players but you just don’t do that with Argentina,” he added. "Too many people have learned that lesson.

"England probably under-estimated them at Twickenham in 2006. They were under-estimated at the 2007 World Cup and they were under-estimated in the 2005 Lions tour opener (when Wilkinson kicked a last-minute penalty in Cardiff to snatch a draw).

“You know the team they put out will be damn good.”

One member of the opposition who plays his rugby on the other side of the A316 at the Twickenham Stoop believes the Pumas - ranked two places higher than England in the world rankings at sixth - are capable of another famous victory.

Harlequins centre Gonzalo Tiesi, one of eight members of Saturday’s 22 who featured in that 2006 win, believes shackling Wilkinson will be central to such an outcome.

“England were beaten in the contact area [against Australia] and in the physicality and that will touch their pride a little bit,” Tiesi said.

"England are a tough unit and they won’t take defeat at home well. We will expect a strong England team who are up for the game.

"The first half an hour is key for us and we need to keep control of the pace of the game and keep England on the back foot.

“It was defence that won Australia the game. If we can put them under pressure and keep Jonny Wilkinson controlled it will be a different game.”
