Re: engagements, exchanging rings, wedding rings Allowed or Not allowed? :S
This has cultural significance, not religious. In Islam, only Nikah and Walima are occasions in wedding.
Re: engagements, exchanging rings, wedding rings Allowed or Not allowed? :S
There are mixed opinions.. Check out Sunnipath, Islam Q&A etc.
With rings some say it's ok if you're not getting too into it, not attaching too much meaning or importance to it and so on, others say that it's not allowed..
Technically we do have an engagement period but in religious terms it only means the person is 'off limits' and should not be approached for rishtas.. A lot of ppl say there's no such thing as being engaged, which isn't really true..

Nikah, Haq-mehr and Walima (Halala) thats all. Rings, engagements nothing have to do with Sunnat.
Today you are confused about exhanging rings, tomorrow about breaking eggs, day after tomorrow about placing gold crowns or wreathes made of orange blossoms on the heads of the bride and groom? Don’t be confused and just follow the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad
how He
get married.
