Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

nabz, i have a 1.5 carat round brilliant diamond with an AGS000 grade (ideal cut). it's on a v delicate 2.5 mm wide band which suits my size 4.75 shoestring fingers too haha. i wear it with a shared prong diamond eternity band. hubby got it from Blue Nile's signature collection, as those are the only diamonds blue nile has in-house (as opposed to virtual inventory) and therefore have detailed grading rpts on. as a general rule, i'd stick to AGS grades with the following cut parameters:

Table Diameter: 52.4 - 57.5%
Crown Angle: 33.7 - 35.8° degrees
Pavilion Angle: 40.15 - 41.20 degrees
Girdle Thickness: Thin, Medium, Slightly Thick
Culet Size: None, Pointed, Very Small, Small, or Medium

once you've narrowed down to this cut, you can decide on the other C's. buying online is not too much of an issue now because they have 10-30 day return policies. the key is to get the diamond independently appraised once it's in your possession if you'd like to keep it. i would recommend whiteflash as i hear they have lower markups than bluenile.

in the end though, go with whatever you feel comfortable with!! i can understand the need to see/feel the diamond before u buy it, and of course it's easier to buy something from a store that you can go to. definitely stay within your comfort zone - and hopefully you'll make the best decision for yourself :)
