Hi,
Can anyone please suggest diamond ring shops in the Greater Toronto Area and surroundings (Markham, Scarborough, Vaughn, Richmond Hill, Woodbridge, Mississauga, etc) for engagement rings and wedding bands.
I know there’s a Tiffany Co in downtown toronto, anyone have any other suggestions?

go to Josephine’s in the Jewellery Exchange, across from the eaton centre. she’s done rings for several of my friends and they are gorgeous!

also try Raj & Meera’s on Albion Road… another friend got her eng. ring/wedding band from there and it is stunning too. and well priced.
tiffany’s is very very very overpriced, just like spence diamonds and birks. plus you can’t negotiate with them whereas you can with the two above.

no, mine my husband got made through one of his clients. josephine has made spectacular rings and wedding bands for two of my friends - they are GORGEOUS. and yes, she's very trustworthy. she also knows her diamonds well!

I went to so many stores all around the city - as far as burlington to vaughn to pickering…including a couple mentioned in this thread…and was thoroughly disappointed by the prices being charged for the diamonds at these places! I could not find a single jeweller who was honest and charging a decent price…they’d take u for a ride, if u don’t know what to look for in diamonds when it comes to quality stones…i used to work at a wholesale jewellers a few yrs back, and learned a fair bit back then…
and if they realized that u’ve done ur research/know ur stuff about diamonds, they’d try to sell the point that they’ll include a “free” appraisal report for insurance purposes - when actually that’s nothing more than a stupid GIA or AGS diamond grading report most of the time, that every certified/legal diamond should have anyways! 
so yea…the only store i didn’t go to that was recommended in here is josephine jewellers, so i can’t say if they’re good or not…but i wouldn’t recommend any others…
after a lot of research, and reading independent reviews from various forums, i decided to purchase my ring through bluenile.ca - yes, i know, a BIG con is that u don’t get to c the ring till after it’s shipped to u…but i could not find a single bad/negative review, and their customer satisfaction was rated 4.8/5.0, which is pretty high…not to mention they have a 30 day no-questions asked return policy (minus the shipping cost, which was like $12)…apparently they are the largest online retailer for certified diamonds…and i was impressed with their huge inventory, at all price points…and u get to customize ur ring still, pick ur stone, pick the ring style etc…huge savings on the cost of the diamond too…plus no custom duties are charged at the border, if the ring happens to cross the border (just the $20 brokerage fee for fedex)…
if i were to buy something custom made here locally in toronto, the ring i wanted would’ve run me close to $4K with taxes and everything…while on bluenile,.ca, with taxes and shipping and the brokerage fee included, i easily saved 60% on that cost, while i am still getting it custom made…turn around time isn’t too bad either, u get the ring in 10 business days in most cases…
i’ll be getting the ring on friday InshaAllah, and if it turns out as good as i expect it to be, bluenile.ca will be my recommendation…will keep u folks posted

a couple of my friends bought their rings from blunile and are really happy with them so i think you made the right choice. i am not too sure about saving 60% part. how many crt is it?

rimsh: no joke, i'm saving a least 60%...princess cut, 0.42 carat, F color, VVS1 clarity, excellent polish - just on the stone price itself, i'm saving 50%...the lowest price i was quoted here for a stone with the same specs was $1800...and thats just the stone, not the ring or taxes etc :)

my fiance bought my ring from bluenile as well and i love it :)! the diamond sparkles and shines like no other and is far superior than most shops.

most retail places will try and take you for a ride for sure... this is why i'd never go to spence or birks or even tiffanys. my friends who went to josephine's were very pleased- they did all their research thoroughly and when they went, were able to talk to josephine knowledgeably about what they purchased. she was also very service-oriented - one of the two friends who saw her was extremely anal about what she wanted and josephine kept editing her ring for free until my friend was perfectly satisfied with it. i think they paid in the $7-9000 range for their rings, but they were also over 1ct and excellent quality. i've been there myself and she was never pushy which i appreciated.

SGC: Josephines does sound like a nice place…i’ll refer my soon-to-be-married friends there to check it out for sure, before making their purchase…along with bluenile of course 
so I got the ring today…and I couldn’t be happier, or more satisfied!! the quality certainly exceeded my expectations! :k: :k: so much better than ALL other rings i’ve seen in and around the city, and well within my budget…
no extra charges in the form of custom duties, taxes, and no brokerage fee either, which was awesome…whatever i had paid online to them, covered it all…and bluenile even included a pre-paid fedex return pouch, just in case…no chance of me returning this though 
oh, and they even included an “actual” appraisal (which quoted the retail price and not the one i paid) instead of just a GIA/AGS report

They are nice, but their only problem is that they don't have alot of GIA ceritified diamonds, mostly GEMscan, also they dont have any GIA certified ideal cut diamonds, so if this matters to you that is very important to note
If you don't know the difference, than I highly suggest you to do research on diamond certification as it affects the diamond grade and worth/value of the diamond
