Engagement photoshoot coming up - need advice

Hey girls,

My engagement photoshoot is coming up and I’m totally clueless when it comes to make-up…as I never wear it.

For the pictures, I want to get my makeup professionally done, but I want it to look REALLY natural.

I’m considering going to either Faces or Aveda for a makeup application. They only charge around $50. Here is the thing, Faces will let me keep $50 worth of makeup…so basically I’m just paying for the makeup and the application is free.

Aveda on the other hand uses mineral makeup. I’ve never tried mineral makeup…but I hear it is much lighter. Would mineral makeup look less “caked on”? Does mineral makeup look better in photos or regular foundation?

What do you think I should go for? I kinda am leaning towards Faces because I would get $50 worth of makeup…rather than if I went with a makeup artist…I would have to pay so much just for the application and not get the products. But at the end of the day, I want to go with whatever will make me look better in the pictures. Any suggestions?

i'd go with faces....after all i know my face iwll look good no matter what :p

Mineral make up looks and feels very light and natural but for a photoshoot I would go for a foundation that gives more coverage, even if you think it looks too much it always looks good in photos.

if you are comfortable and have good skin...you ll look great in pics! its all about confidence...if you dont feel good it will show.....vice versa..
dont cake on makeup if you dont need it...some girls look great with min makeup and tend to ruin their faces by applying more than they need...do a trial..and take some pics before the actual photo shoot.

100% do a trial!
i'd pick aveda only because they have an actual salon... i don't know about getting makeup done in the middle of the mall but maybe thats just me.. i'd rather be a bit more private and comfortable.

as an aside, i was at my best friend's wedding on saturday, and her mua did my face and a couple of the other girls too and WOW!! she was incredible. she did really dramatic eyes for me in turqoise and gold which worked because my dress was a very bright color, but the other girls were wearing grey, and peach, and of course the bride was in white, and her sister in orange/red, and all of us looked so different and perfectly suited to our clothing and our styles. the makeup didn't budge an inch all night long and didn't feel heavy or icky or anything.
she did the makeup for project runway canada season 1, and she's done commercials, fashion shows, and much music awards. i'm totally going to get her to do my makeup for my bro's wedding. i can't remember her web address, but her name is michelle brown. she also does desi weddings.
