Re: Engagement dress
my husband got this sea blue and sea green shalwar kameez with silver kaam on it.. the dupatta was heavy with lots of sequins. Looked very classy and modern :)
Re: Engagement dress
i wore a pinkish peach gharara with very light work on dupatta borders and gharara borders....a medium sized engagement hmm i would recommend not to wear a too heavy dress keep it to a light colour chooridaar+ pishwaz or lehnga but with very litw work would do ....chooridar with a long shirt (sequenced) would look good too
i was thinking of a chooridaar as well! being in the states, im so cut off from all the latest styles etc so its so confusing sometimes!!!
I wore a sea green fish tail lengha, i think they are so beautiful and the most flattering style. My husband wore a suit with a matching coloured tie. Although, i dont know what is out of fashion right now when it comes to asian clothes, this was about 2 and a half years ago :D
Excuse the pictures, i look SO young it's quite scary!

Re: Engagement dress
my MIL gave me a peach jamevar shalwar kamiz with delicate gold and silver kaam on the neck, sleeves and dupatta. I still wear this suit often with a gold churidaar and everyone loves it.
Re: Engagement dress
i wore a golden small kameez with diamontees work on neck and a chiffon printed dupatta. Mine had a patyala shalwar. looked quite nice, so my fiance told me afterwards :)

Re: Engagement dress
here's mine...
a suggestion: wear something that isnt going to go out of style....something classic that you can look back in 10 years and still not think like, "wow, that was in back then??"
Re: Engagement dress
^ I agree, marena. Also something that's not going to look so bridal that it will take away from your big day. Pretty and bridal, but not over the top.
Re: Engagement dress
hmm.. smething elegent n sweet..anarkali fruq is so "IN" these days.. or u can wear long kameez wid churidar..i didnt had engagemnt but i had nikah i wore copper maroon shalwar kameez..becuz mine one was also quite small celebration.inthe home.
Re: Engagement dress
good point about the style... but if u think of it 10 years from now the same style might be back in after fading out...it always happens! i was looking at old pictures of my mom and aunts and they were actually probably 20 30 years ago. they were wearing the longer shirt style that suddenly came back in fashion! wish they saved some of the suits :( lol
