Thanks guys & Catwalk. I'm totally unconcerned if my sister's clothes look "heavier" than mine. I don't particularily like heavy clothes, I love different styles though so that's what I gravitate towards. I think once the dupatta is set, the lights are low and my drress sparkles, it'll become very evident who the bride-to-be is LOL.
wow mash'allah your outfit is gorgeous!! I think your sister's is about the same, if not heavier than yours because of the kaam on her sleeves and then the border on the trousers. You could get your sharara made into wide-legged trousers like you suggested, but if you wanna make a pyjama use separate material don't use the sharara with the border it'd look weird. Other option is to tone down you're sister's dress - I think a plain green churidaar pyjama with her dress would look lovely but less heavy - hence making yours more heavy (although you mentioned you don't care if hers is heavier or not as once the dupatta's on your head you will look like dulhan, period)
its not that heavy, lady! i thought you were going all out bridal but it is perfectly appropriate for an engagement. i don't think your sister's dress is heavier, maybe comparable, but you'll be the one up on stage- all eyes will be on you. i wouldn't bother with changing it around- if you made it into a churidar, then i think your mom would be right- it would be a lot less dressier then.
