Re: Eng v SL
England have just hit the rock-bottom. Looking at their excuses, they seem to blame it on selectors and injuries. I mean a team like Sri Lanka that does not have the luxary like England can beat them so emphatically is just amazing. If they claim this to be their "B" team than it is no good. Also, looking at their players that are injured, it seems that this is their main team. Who knows when the injured players will return, and if they do, would they be able to sustain fitness and perform at the highest level?
Moreover, the reason why England was given so much respect was because of their victory against Australia. I knew from the beginning that it was not a decline in the Australian cricket because their captain and selectors would not let them go this way. If we look at England, they have same facilities, money and environment like the Australians but it seems that in One Days, they are going downhill. Do we call Ashes a fluke? I wouldn't, because since Ashes they have only lost to Pakistan. Yes, they have not perform to that Ashes level, the commitment, hard work, passion and determination is almost gone but one really can not count their opponent out. Mashallah, Pakistan has picked up since that amazing vicotry and despite injuries we were able to out perform our opponets and win Test series.
Like they say, if they are down crush'em and I hope Pakistan, regardless of whatever line-up, enter the groud with confidence and belief to win and only win.
My $0.02...!
Re: Eng v SL
Some people here were telling us about the depth of English bowling attackand even if their front line bowlers were injured they had very good reserves. I think that theory has just been blown to pieces. With only Harmisson (who is now back) and Jones out of the attack they have been struggling. It is not their B attack, looks more like a kindergarden attack.
Re: Eng v SL
