enemy of my enemy...

imagine you are the head of indian army. one of your primary task is to minimise threat posed by pakistani army while not confronting pak directly. how would you go about accomplishing your goal?

here is what i would do:

  1. get pak on the wrong side of world’s sole superpower. at minimum try to get u.s. sanctions on pak. best case scenario would be to get u.s. to take out strategic targets inside pak.

  2. get pakistani terrorist groups to target pak army especially the elite troops. spread propaganda inside pak that pak army is the deemukh that is eating away pak.

  3. try to undermine pak army chief by spreading propaganda that chief is an american stooge who is selling pakistani interest in order to secure his own kursee.

strangely enough, goal of mullah supporters like mma and imran khan is no different from those that would find favour with indian army chief. mullah supporters want pak to stop cooperating with americans which at minimum would result in sanctions and we all know what the worst outcome would be under this scenario.

so why are mullah supporters anti-army? mullah supporters know that army support is essential if mullahs are to come to power. mullahs know since their agenda is unpopular, force has to be used to implement mullahism which was the case under zia. worse nightmare for mullah is to see army turning neutral which was the case before zia when maudoodi was given a death sentence for preaching ahmedis.

other group of people who oppose army are that section of population that never signed on to the the partition agenda. in this camp would be nationalist and some anti-islam liberals like asma jehangir/ahmed rashid. some anti-army figures are likely to be in the jaib of indian government.

which ever way you look at it, indian army chief has to be pretty happy right now.

king faisal - even going by your theory, 2 & 3 mean anything only if the 1st is achieved. that hasn't happened so haven't you simply proven the contra to your hypothesis? oh. may be that's how things work in ksa
