The Taliban were a political party just like the Republicans and Democrats, but its members have been declared enemy combatants. So, if Mr. Bush, who is a Republican, declares war on Iraq, he becomes an enemy combatant to Iraqis and should be taken out. Would that mean that every Republican in the United States automatically should become an enemy combatant and be subject to the same treatments as the soldiers and leaders of the Republican regime? That would also entail for the Iraqis to kill every Republican? This is ridiculous. That means every German after WWII should have been either killed or subject to war crimes tribunals. It’s simple. US is powerful. For now. And like all oppressive and naive nations believe that they will stay forever, till then, heck with rights and humanity. You are poor, you are Muslim, you pay the price. How Pharoanic. Pharoah got his. Now who’s next?
The term has been thrown around quite losely by Ashcroft, Tom Ridge and Bush etc. If or when they decide you are a member of taliban or al-qaeda, you are automatically an enemy combatant. They can also declare a US citizen an enemy combatant if they even remotely suspect that you are a danger to national security. You will be held without being charged, indefinitely and w/o access to a lawyer. You basically have no constitutional rights.
After taliban/al-qaeda, now if u a r Ba'athist, you prolly are an enemy combatant. Btw, is Tariq Aziz being held as an enemy combatant?
interesting idea but do you think that the Taliban or Saddam would follow any international law if by some chance they had Dubya in the custody? I imagine that instead of POW or enemy combatant Mr. Bush we become a hostage used for negotiation.
As far as all Republicans being enemy combatants, you can bet that if any army in the traditional sense invaded the continintal U.S. many of them probably would be. As well as Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, Catholics, Muslims, Jews..... and anybody else living here that considers themselves Americans.

Yup, except they liked to whip women for going to school and enjoyed guests who liked to fly planes into buildings.
right on whip the women part ..
Justice.. how bad were the US POW's treated?? do they tell stories of being shackled and hooded??
Sure sure...For all their artrocities the Taliban certainly didn't kill the sick, the old, the women, the children and the incapacitated disdainfully...For some mentally sick people dropping a nuclear bomb or carpet bombing a nation is an act of liberation...Sociopaths and psychopaths think the same way...
