Enemy At the Gates

I’m not much of a film reviewer, but you have got to see this movie !

Its about a Russian sniper who wrecked havoc on the nazis, during the siege of Stalingrad in World War II. Its depicts realistic warfare and show how shamelessly all sides indulge in propoganda during times of war.

Stretch your imagination a little and replace Stalingrad with Grozny, the Nazis with Russians and the sniper with a Chechen, and you’ll see how fast preceptions change of what constitues a ‘Hero’.

agree TTank, it's a very good movie abt the sniper situation in Stalingrad. As for 'Hero', that's the the way things work there.

Chechnya, Kashmir, Afghanistan are all about stories and happenings like these. They're not going to be verified by some director in beverly hills before the world knows what really happened. Try to get a hold of 'Silent Whisper at the Front', it's a Russian movie (subtitled) abt their invasion attempt; you'll be more than surprised.

Consider the upcoming Pearl Harbor, apart from being visually stunning it seems to suggest the Americans suffered some sort of monster tragedy. The trailer is dramatizing rubbish talk, "the usa was deliberately attacked"..It's warfare buddy, attacks are going to take place, and they're going to be deliberate. It's like saying pete sampras 'deliberately' returned a seve at wimbledon.

The loss for Roosevelt was more that the us of a was caught off guard then the loss of mostly military lives.

But it's their industry, their media, they can and will present history in whatever way they please; and they're doing a mighty fine job so far.
