endometrium

Does anyone know what the normal or preferred size/thickness of the endo lining is to be? Doc is saying one thing and a couple of medical studies and other info on the net is saying another.

Re: endometrium

it depends on what phase of the menstrual cycle you are in (thinnest during menstruation phase and gradually thickening as the cycle progresses through the proliferative and secretory phases).

Re: endometrium

yups ...........thickness varies depending upon what state the uterus is in ?? normal state or mensturation or conception.

Re: endometrium

chipsy and hsap, thanks for replying. I was wondering what the thickness should be during middle of the cycle, around ovulation time.

Re: endometrium

There are tests that can be done which actually measure the thickness of the lining at the exact time of fertility - ie., when the egg is ripe and/or ready to be released. I forget the specific name of the test but I had it done a while back. And what it tells you is whether or not the lining is thick enough for a fertilized egg to plant itself in.

Mine was not sufficient. We first tried clomid during 1st half of cycle and progesterone supplements (crinone) 2nd half. No good but it does work for many. Anyway, I next did injectible fertility drugs first half then progesterone and low-dose aspirin 2nd half. THAT worked. It was a tough thing to go thru, you need to have ultrasound every other day to check ovaries that they dont over produce, check blood levels of hormones every other day also.

In the end, it was worth every needle-stick, every doctor visit, every minute of stress.

Sorry if this is too many details.....
