Endemetriosis

Does anyone have this? Apparently I do and I had a very large cyst in my ovary that I had removed a few months ago. My gyno told me that this condition is not curable, and all that can be done is to halt the symptoms. Hence she is putting me on birth control for good now.

I heard that the condition could lead to infertility. Has anyone encountered this? I really pray that the birth control helps halt the symptoms so I can have children later in life. I would really be devastated if I couldn’t. I don’t know how common infertility is with endemetriosis.

Re: Endemetriosis

i was diagoned with stage 4 endemetriosis...after my 3rd miscarriage, i had a laproscopy done and it turned out that i had 18 cysts on my left ovary (had never ovulated from that side), and my left falopian tube was tied in knot with scar tissue. the endemetrial scar tissue had completetly taken over my reproductive cavity, and attached to my bladder as well. i had laser surgery to clear up as much scar tissue as they could, a full year of medical induced menopause to give my body time to heal, and then went straight into IVF. Allhamdullilah, first try was successful, and I had my baby at age 28, when he was 14 months old, we went straight into IVF again, because my specialist had told me to either stop at 1 child, or try IVF again right away, but not to plan on having kids after the age of 30. Again, allhamdulliah, the second try was successful as well, and resulted in the birth of my twins (also boys)! I was 30 when the twins were born, and then at 32, had a complete hysterectomy.

Now my case is EXTREME, and I don't want to scare you..I don't know where you live, but if you're in the West (US, Canada, UK) I would recommend treatment by a Reproductive Endocronologist. This is a VERY specialized field of gynecology, in fact, they only deal with concieving & fertility issues.

Good luck, stay strong, and if you ever need any advice, information, or just want to rant, PM me anytime!

Re: Endemetriosis

My cousin had it, and had huge problems with conceiving, she attempted IVF a few times, and AH was successful in her 3rd attempt, however nearly died after giving birth, due to her scar tissues spreading across her bowels, and the surgeons were unable to see that they had accidently snipped that tissue, which led to her having blood poisoning, and in ICU on a life support system for a week, 2 days after giving birth!!!

sorry this was not meant to scare you, she was over 35 and that contributed hugely to her having problems with fertility, but she is another one that had to have a full hysterectomy soon after that.

She was categorically told by the Dr's that she would never have children as her condition was so severe, but God had other plans, AH she has a beautiful son. so dont believe everything the Docs tell you, have faith in the Almighty and it will all work out in the end

Re: Endemetriosis

Just Im wondering if you had pelvic pain before hand? I'm scared i might have this condition, ive been having pelvic pain even when im not on my period, like every 4 months. Especially after fainting or passing out i get this pelvic pain, im going to see the doctor.

Re: Endemetriosis

yes, excruciating pelvic pain, even when i wasn't on my period....terrible, terrible cramping, very heavy bleeding that would last 2-4 weeks, nausea, weakness, passing out, extreme diarreah or constipation....all hallmark signs of endemetriosis...please do go get it checked out...started when I was 13 or so...did not get diagnosed until I was 25!!
