A big Chicago media company had to file bankruptcy because their subscription and ad. revenues are down.
Then Jay Lano is taking over Prime Time NBC time slot because viewers are playing video games or they are on Internet during prime time and NBC cannot afford to fill prime time slot with expensive Prime Time dramas like ER, Law & Order
So how soon do you think everybody will be glued to computers or game consoles instead of TV sets ?
What will TV actors be doing ? Blogging ? You Tube ? Face Book ? GS ?
Yep, primetime tv dramas are in trouble, reality tv shows took over this slot with the start of 'survivor', now its shows like 'american idol' 'dancing with the stars' 'the biggest loser' 'the amazing race' 'top chef' (my fav) that get the highest ratings, followed by morning talk shows/morning shows.
Well TV anchors have already started doing Facebook, twitter, myspace and youtube. cuz they know everyone is using internet, and i think the day is not that far when computer and tvs would be combined to one machine so that ppl could chat and watch UFC at the same time :( i wish i could do that
sorry for being off-topic but my 18 mth old (sitting on my lap) is LOVING ecoshan's avatar lol she keeps giggling and pointing to it, trying to copy his 'dance moves', GS is an endless source of entertainment even for babies :D

I replaced TV viewing with gaming consoles a few years back. I don't think these markets will completely disappear, but having the same information/content available online will cut them down a lot. I see a market for TV's (HDTV) at least until the internet speeds become fast enough to deliver HD content in real-time. In the gaming community, there's also talk of everything being digitally distributed at some point in time. However, people like having physical media and downloading 10's of gigs would take a very long time with the current internet speeds and may not be practical for everyone to do.
