Has anyone ever traveled to Pakistan with the seat next to them being empty on the flight?

Yes. PIA off season had that problem out of houston. A reason for their shutdown from Houston. They didn't have enough business.

What is considered the off season?
I thought PIA cut was related to EU having baned their planes and they needed good planes for routes that brought in more money.

once I was on a plane to Pakistan together with an uncle of mine, with the seat in between us occupied by some kid. After one hour into our journey, that uncle asked this kid where his parents where; He said they were sitting a few rows back. So my uncle asked him why he wasn’t sitting with his parents, but here all alone, he could easily fit in between his parents or on his mother’s lap. Convinced by this the boy went way to bug his parents to have him sit in between them, and the rest of the flight the seat in between us was empty

Once I was flying back from Lahore to Frankfurt on PIA and the whole plane was packed full, except the two seats next to me. Since it was a night flight, that was very convenient, because the armrests were retractable, so I could use all 3 seats to lie down and sleep through the flight. :)

Dont let the silly EU ban stop you from flying PIA. The issue has been dealt with.
To say empty flights are just an off season phenomenon would be wrong.
You have to understand how these flights work. For instance many people fly Toronto - Karachi in December because of winter vacations. On the way back Karachi - Toronto the planes are empty in December. In January Toronto - Karachi is empty but Karachi - Toronto is packed because of people returning from winter vacations.
There was a time when I with 35 other passengers on an international flight to Addis Ababa. On a 747 :D.

A seattt looool that would've felt crowded.
I had an entire row to myself, with the convenience of relocating within the cabin whenever i felt bored sitting where i was.

^Usually they are Dushi. Especially the Transatlantic sector.

^That's definately one of the factors. But not the main culprit.
I think people get sick of their schedule changes (Like it doesn't come to Chicago/Houston) anymore....due to bad management. Core issues.
Some people have issues with their service; i loved it because it was excellent, no complains here.

Yup, when I was coming back from Pakistan in December, 2005 via PIA, half the plane was empty.

yep not once or twice but several times!! (I guess just twice I had to have one seat :D)
Also, on my recent trip with Etihad.. I had the middle four seats to myself from Abu Dhabi to JFK.. lifted the armrests, got the blanket and slept throughout the flight!!
oh and also, even during my domestic flights in Pakistan, my husband and I got three seats for us two.. 2 hours (Khi-Isb) passed by quickly.

On my way to Muscat in November 2005, the plane was only 1/4th fill - Gulf Airline plane!
