Which is more hurtful for the cheated on spouse? Which is more difficult to forgive and get past for the spouse?

I think an emotional affair is worse because it means you fell in love and your heart is theirs. A physical affair can be overcome (although very difficult) because it may not hold any significance in the offender's reality.

An emotional one is far worse.

what is up with all the affair, cheating type of threads

both would be bad, but if the couple has a strong foundation and still love each other i think both can be forgiven.

An Affair is an Affair is an Affair !!!!!

Whether emotional or physical.....both are traumatizing to the spouse being cheated on ! Both would lead to the same level of loss of trust in my opinion and a relationship without trust would invariably flounder !***

Women usually find emotional cheating to be worse. And men tend to be infuriated about physical affairs, more than emotional.
