So I am cooking qeema, and i heated the oil in a pan, added onions. After sometime, it’s all frothy. I tasted the oil but it smells fine. Whyyyyyyyyyyyy? What’s going on???

or you didnt wash the pan properly and perhaps there was still soap in it

OK, so I still went and ahead an cooked the qeema. It turned out fine. The frothing stopped after I took it off the flame and let the onions rest a few minutes. Although I still saw some bubbles later. It’s been 5 hours since dinner. We are still alive and haven’t used the bathroom in manners anticipated by readers.
