I need some advice from you girls about an incident with mehndi.
My sister recently got engaged in Pakistan and her beautician used an emergency henna cone - it had added chemicals to make the colour come out darker and had a red/orange colour.
Shes not really a big fan of mehndi but she wanted that traditional look so she used it - considering we were short in time in arranging everything - the beautician ordered emergency henna cone. The thing is that after about 20 mins to 30 mins later her skin started to get irritated while she was at the reception. She ignored it but the next day it started to come off and her skin was peeling off too. Its like it burned her skin. She been quite upset about it and we were wondering if its going to scar? Has it happened to any of you girls? If so what did you use to fix it? Any advice is appreciated - I’ve consoled her and told her she’ll get better but truth be told Im not so sure - will it leave permanent scars?
My sister that the same reaction to that mehndi. Try keep the area well moisturised and clean and never scratch if it itches. It may just be a mild reaction that will not scar.
She might get some hyperpigmentation from the reaction. She should be very gentle until the area has healed. So just plain soap and water for cleaning and nothing like moisturiser. She can apply aloe vera after hand washing as a barrier and to soothe the itching.
Once it has healed - is no longer itching and is dry. If she has any hyperpigmentation, Rosehip Oil is much better than Bio Oil.
I doubt she will have permanent scarring as it's just superficial. Hyperpigmentation can take a while to fade for some people though.
There are sooo many chemicals in that mehndi, i've got sensitive skin too but Alhamdulilah it didn't leave me with any scars. Make sure she doesn't touch it too much or try and peel it herself and also make sure she keeps it moisturized. A lanolin based cream (unscented) is the best thing to use or Vaseline.
I had same infection but I hope it’s not worse as mine, on my wedding I booked an appointment with professional mehndi artist in Pakistan, I was actually shocked that they were applying liquid mehndi with the sringe. At that moment I was happy about the beautiful mehndi design he was putting on my hands, after a while it started burning so bad, I asked him why’s this thing hurting he said it be fine in little while but not wash my hands for atleast an hour. I left from his salon it was day of my mayun and by the time I got home I was literelly crying because of awful pain.
Its been 5 years since I got married and to the date I still have some light scars on my arms. I have desi fair complexion and they looked even more bad and were more visible. :hinna: So I would never recommend anyone to go for any emergency mehndi or the one has more chemicals.

I once burnt like half of my hand and it healed pretty quickly. I had hyperpigmentation for a while but it soon faded into nothing.
If she uses something like rose hip oil, as suggested by stoppit, the hyperpigmentation will fade pretty fast.
So, yeah, tell her not to worry because it will heal soon.
