So much for the freedom of the press and judiciary. Once they started challenging Mush’s authority and exposing his regime’s weaknesses and failures, the independence of judiciary and media finally got to him and he felt ‘he could not let Pakistan commit suicide’. What a joker? This is what all dictators say and do.
His action is merely to protect and extend his illegle rule in Pakistan as many millitary rulers have done before him. It is a very sad day for Pakistan which is being ruled by a man for whom the only consideration is the perpetuity of his own rule. To achieve this motive he is ready to trample the judiciary for which he says he has the highest respect. The voice of the media has been muzzled and the basic human rights have been suspended. These are desperate measures by a desperate despot who now finds himself cornered.

Musharraf has to rule with iron fist even if it means knocking out those that are obstructing the quashing of terrorist Jihadists so that their future vote bank is preserved.
UAE along with Saudia is a main sponsor for Jihadis...how do you react on this? Can we wipe out half of population of UAE as well? With Martial Law?

I sometimes tend to view things with rose-colored glasses but I'd like to ask something in all seriousness.
Even if Mushy's motives here are purely personal and selfish, he will now be forced to accomplish his "public" reason for imposing martial law, right? So he will HAVE to get the jihadi-types (like the Maulana in Swat) all under control. The taleban types will be banished. In the end, isnt that a good thing? Then once that task is accomplished, he will have no reason to hold his grip on his position, he will either have to step down or will be forced out if that is the wish of the people.

You are right; I am thinking to disappear anyhow. This forum seems to be not worth the effort when so-called dictators on the forum try to use their dictatorial powers on their little country with no-land, called gup-shup forum. I have learned from many on this forum how some Pakistanis live in their own cuckoo land where all is right for them and same becomes wrong for others.
And yea, as far as Islam is concerned, I know enough Islam to know what I am writing. My knowledge did not come from brainwashed Zombies of Zombie Madrasas or from retarded imams of so-called Mosques built on stolen land, that my knowledge about Islam will be as misguided as what knowledge many have.

Well the most public reason for imposing martial law has been "courts" and not the Taleban. One has to think that after remaining in power for 8 years with his slogan "unity of command" that he enjoyed the Taleban have become strengthened, how can one beleive that more time given to Musharraf he will accomplaish anything.
While all private news channels have been taken off air, the FM radio channel run by that Moulana is still operating.
