Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN
OH can the supporters of so called liberal and progressive policies of Musharraf and critical of SC point out one judgement of the SC that was supra constitutional or beyond their mandate? There was none! Mush was scared of loosing power thats all! We are not fools! He came last night and repeated the whole drama that he did when he cam,e to power in 1999, if everything is still in jepoardy he should have resigned out of shame if nothing else that he has not been able to do anything for the stability of the country in 8 years, he expects us to give him more time? What for? To enjoy absolute power? That he only uses to save his kursi?
Supreme Court did not do anything that was against its mandate, not even a single decision. The truth is for the first time in its history SC did what it was suppose to do and the the general without legitimacy did not like it and felt endangered! That is all. If anyone has gone beyond his mandate its Musharraf and no body else!
When you wrote progressive and liberal policies of Musharraf, it seems that you do not know much about Islam. Actually Musharraf policies is what Islam ask head of state to do, that is to stop fitna (that AQ, Taliban, retarded terrorists Fazlullah, and their likes are spreading) and allow citizens living in the country to practice religion and their beliefs without fear of persecution (not getting forced related to religion).
As for extra judicial rulings from Supreme Court, there are many. To give you few examples, Supreme court ruling and asking government to appoint Rashid nephew as naib imam of lal-masjid (who gave Supreme Court right to appoint anyone on government jobs?). Supreme Court ruling on painting of lal masjid (who gave Supreme Court right to decide what colour government paints a building that belong to them), Supreme Court ruling that government should build Madrasa-e-hafsa and appoint Rashid wife as principal there, even though that madrasa was built on illegally occupied land (On the other hand, who gave this right to Supreme Court that what government does with madrasa that belongs to government and who government appoints in madrasa). Etc etc etc.
Well, these are but few of ridiculous ruling of Supreme Court and unwanted interference of Supreme Court with running of government.
