Emergency Baby Bag

So my sistaaa had babayyyyy!

I noticed she was WELL prepared with a diaper bag full of the essentials she needed right away.

Did everyone do that?

What did you diaper bag have when you went to the hospital? Or did you forget it altogether?

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

I was prepared too, had a diaper bag and a hospital bag. However, this time thinking about preparing makes me tired. :frowning:

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

^ Me tooo… On both counts.

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

I had them ready as well. I used a check list from babycenter.com and i believe my hospital/doc. office provided a list as well.

But i had a scheduled induction, so went in very prepared.

for next time i won’t pack diapers and wipes (hospital ended up giving us some since the new born one i had packed needn’t fit LO.) Since i had a c section, i used the hospital’s pad/liners…so i won’t pack those either. I will make sure to pack stuff for my hubby (he didn’t and had to leave the hospital to get them later on.) Snacks for hubby

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

Yup, my hospital bag was all ready and packed at around 35 weeks. I only brought the coming home outfit for baby though as everything else was provided by the hospital. For myself I had everything I needed to comfortably stay over at the hospital for at least 2 days.

I had a hospital bag ready for myself but only the take home outfit for the baby. Everything for the baby was provided by the hospital. In fact they make sure you take all the remaining diapers/wipes/ointments with you.

Same here. My hospital bag was ready by 35-36 weeks with my first born..but it was stuff I would need and only take home outfit for baby..everything else I got from the hospital and came home diapers/wipes/ointment etc.

With the twins I didn’t even do that because I knew they most likely wouldn’t be coming home with me right away. I ended up being in the hospital for 6 days so my mom and husband would just bring me whatever I needed.

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

lol Lusi and Sgc… I prepared my hospital bag after my water broke  (in my defense I had the list written down and I knew exactly what I needed and where it was)

fist time around, I was ready at 32 weeks.. with the car seat installed!

one more thing for girls who are expecting second babies.. make sure you have the outfit ready for your first born who will come to the hospital to see baby.. my husband dressed my son up in a shirt that was sitting in his “clothes that he outgrew” pile and put a sweater on him that was in “donate to goodwill” box! lesson learned!!!

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

Here you don’t need anything for the baby, except the take home outfit.

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

ooh good point! hahaha he would probably show up in mismatched pj’s and rainboots. oh well!

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

Yes, definitely pack an organized bag of clothes/accessories/sleeping toy/books to keep for the elder sibling while you’re at the hospital, especially if s/he will be staying somewhere else.

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

With my 1st one it was ready around 34-35 weeks.

With the 2nd one a week before my elective C date.

3rd one that morning of an hour before leaving for my elective C scheduled surgery.
My husband packed it actually while I tried to fit into yoga pants asking my husband whether wearing spanx was an option?

Oh the memories

i had a bag ready the first time, but didnt use a sin gle thing cept toiletries… cuz the hospital supplied me with everything.

so second time around.. i did nothing.. from my undies to the baby’s diaper… everything was covered by the hospital.

she even came home in a hospital owned outfit. :d

I packed mine with all the things I thought I may need but the hospital wanted me to keep them in their bodysuit and they provided literally everything. The only thing I ended up using for the babies were the take home outfits.

However I wish I had packed more stuff for my grooming. Do pack loose button downs for you incase you have visitors. If you wear makeup, yes pack some of that to freshen yourself up. Nursing bras because you will be constantly feeding. The amount of people visitors who came to see me, well I wish I looked less like a zombie. Oh and the babies.. they were wrapped up in hospital a blankets looking delicious so that was a wonderful distraction.

Re: Emergency Baby Bag

OMG! I had kids outfits ready to come see baby…but my mom somehow got the wrong clothes on them !!!
