I have been wishing to open a thread on this topic since a while now. But what purpose this elite panel has served so far except committing same mistakes again and again.
We all know Asoka Desilva!! The Guy is absoutely useless. He constantly gives LBWs to ball pitching outside leg befores, usually has no idea weather the ball is gonna hit the stumps Or the batsman nicked it or not. Plus his famous- lookin-at-the-crowd-while-jacob-stumping is not out of the picture yet.
-Venkat commits mistakes more often than not, he was horrible in WC, he is below average in current SA-ENG series.
– We all know how pakistan sufferd in Natwest series through the hands of Hair, another umpire whom i affectioanly like to call ‘blind’ and a local peter willey…
-The only umpires who has done justice to thier ‘elite’ status are Bucknor and Simon Taufell except for some minor incidents.
I never thought this Elite panel was a good idea but if there is a need for it, I think there should be a demotion criteria as well. and Asoka should be the first one to be demoted, and Venkat, Tiffan should be on a probation status…
And in addition. umpires should only be from non-cricket playing countries. Or else they're bound to be biased, particularly against those batsmen who miss the ball or mis-hit

ur rite saby, asoka is an embarasement to the panel. and venkat is getting 2 old now. he used to be a gd umpire, but some bias was pretty obvious when he umpired some matches featuring pakistan. now he's completely lost it. i don see ne world class umpire besides bucknor. wats gonna happen when he's gone ... ??
but i m too prec-occupited with oteher things
