Electricity issue

In the last couple of months, the electricity in our apartment keeps going out..everything goes out except for hte fridge and kitchen light. its happened several times, we don’t have any heavy appliances plugged in, even our super said that the things that are plugged in and in use shouldn’t cause the fuses to keep burning out..

We’ve been living here for over a year without any issues at all, but this electricity problem started a month or so ago, it happens every few weeks. I bought a set of fuses in case it happens, but my main concern is come summertime, when we use our A/C it will cause more problems for us. WHy does this keep happening and what can we do to prevent it?

Re: Electricity issue

Same thing happened to me when I plugged in the heater I bought. Someone came to fix it from the building management and he said that the apartment walls are divided into two. One that can support heavy appliances like AC, heater etc and one that can support smaller ones. You don't want to plug the heavy appliances in the wall that will support small appliances.

Re: Electricity issue

I agree with Spiral ..

Secondly, it could be a sign that something is about to go wrong to the main powerline to your home.. so get it checked asap .. it can be dangerous.

Meanwhile , please be careful with any electrical things , eg kettles, mobile phones when they on the charging etc ...

Re: Electricity issue

Move. otherwise if this issue is not fixed , your apartment might catch fire some day.

Re: Electricity issue

call the super and tell him.

Re: Electricity issue

if your kitchen has power while the rest of the apt is dark, its circuit breaker that is tripping.

Re: Electricity issue

electrician?? spend some less money on shoes n pay an electrician :chai:

Re: Electricity issue

I second your fatwa.

Re: Electricity issue

Yeah, that's it, the circut breaker keeps tripping....is that different than what I said?

The thing is, nothing happened for over a year, so I dunno why it keeps happening now...and the super is no help. we may have to call teh management and complain about this issue....

Re: Electricity issue

Its either short circuit or you have something heavy plugged in to your regular outlet.

Re: Electricity issue

What are the heavy appliances?

there's the microwave, the fridge, laptop charger and lamp, in the next room has teh computer stuff and AC set up.

Re: Electricity issue

laptop and lamp are the heavy appliances plug them out and you will be ok.

Re: Electricity issue

soemthing could be shorting out.

Re: Electricity issue

There could be a hidden water leak.
