Electrical/Computer Engineers

I think saying ‘most desis end up being an electrical/computer engineer’ is a huge misnomer. Also, I am referring strictly to engineering, so I wouldnt classify the IT/CS folks in the same category. Lets have another attendance count, all Electrical/Computer Engineers sign in, last time I did it here, we found only one, Queer, who I believe was still a student. Also, let us know if you’re working or not. It would also be nice to know what kind of hardware/controllers/eng. software you are working with.

I am presently working with ATMEL controllers, had some experience with Motorolas. These days starting some circuit schematic/layout stuff in Mentor Graphics PADS, previously worked with OrCAD.

So lets hear what you have to say.

Re: Electrical/Computer Engineers

EE not working in the EE field anymore though. Working for the Oil Industry now.

Worked on PCAD extensively before. Worked with INTEL microcontrollers a long time back (8900 series) for Telecommunication and military applications.

OrCAD, MatLAB, MathCAD in olden days.

Re: Electrical/Computer Engineers

WitchDR, what made you revert, just curious... I mean EEs who work for 10-15 years, one can hardly expect them to change careeers, considering how difficult and experience ladden this field is.

Re: Electrical/Computer Engineers

Im sorry this should have been in C&A... Mods please move...

Re: Electrical/Computer Engineers

Spock check Introductions in C&A, you will be surprised. you are working on PADS only or ModelSim or FPGA advantage as well?

Re: Electrical/Computer Engineers

Spock, I did not work in my beloved field of EE for that long time. I was involved in R&D for three years only (4 years if I include the university time as well). I love those three years.

There are a couple of reasons why I left that:

1- Career progression opportunities.
2- Financial benefits

I weighed the pros and cons of leaving the field at that time, and it made sense to change career.
