I have an electric stove at my apartment and it takes forever to heat up..I dun feel like cooking at all and I am really craving for pakore but I detest this stove.. is there anything that I should or shouln’t be doing to make it better???
Also, how about investing into an electric frying pan??? is it worth it???
If anyone has a personal experience with an electric stove and cooking, please share!!!
Its been an year now that I'm cooking on electric stove......and I really really don't like it. Gas is so much convenient. besides I managed to burn my two dupattas coz the damn burner was on n i didn't know.:-(
no idea about electric frying pan though!
There isn't really much u can do to make it heat up faster, unless the individual stove isn't plugged properly. Sometimes after you clean the silver layin, u don't plug back the stove properly. Try adjusting that and see if it heats up. It should become red. If it doesn't, you as a tenant have the right to ask the landord for a replacement.
we moved to a new flat last month... we have an electric hub :( GtG you are right it takes ages to heat up and as if you have no control over the intensity... almost everyday tea spills on the hub :(
I have no problems cooking on electric. In fact I've never used gas.
A tip: To get a head start on cooking, turn on your burner while you gather all of your materials together. When you're almost done prepping, put your pot on the burner and add a little bit of oil. By the time you're done prepping, your pot is hot and your oil is ready to be cooked in.
I have no issues with heating , my only problem is recipes with 'halki aanch per garam karain'. Aaanch nazar hi nahi aati tou halki aur taez ka kaise pata chale.
Gtg - after I posted in your thread, mera poora unit faut ho gaya I don’t even know what happened, I was cooking on the stove and turned on the oven to preheat it simultaneously and it just died.
^ aww SeharI guess you'll be eating out for a few days!
Electric stoves are definitely not fun and it does take longer to cook on them but after a while you do get used to the cooking length. We always put the stove on medium high heat and then switch over to low after it warms up.
rukhsarbibi.. if I turn it slow, I dun think if i will be ever able to cook something. I am just not used to it so it will take some time. :tears:
Hinzy Binzy: I just bought an electric frying pan.. people use it for camping.. I use it at home!!! I dun like the taste of the tea made in kettles.. I am way too picky about my tea and how it should taste so kettle isn’t going to work!! oh well, now I can check threads here while the water boils for tea and then write an entry in my journal while the tea gets ready.. hehe I am proud of myself.

An electric deep fryer is great for pakoras, chips, samosas etc and the lid helps to keep the oil frying smell under control. I hate electric stoves, even after they are off they stay hot for a while an needless to say i have gotton some bad burns quite a few times.
