Electoral Rolls

The Election Commission had prepared a new list of voters in 2001. The Nadra was functioning full swing then and yet the efforts were half hearted at best and the old methods of registering in a register of registries were used.
My family couldnt vote; my parents were listed in Islamabad. I couldnt vote because I could not have afforded the inconvenience of trying to get myself listed somewhere. And from the stories I heard from ppl, I didnt think it was easy to get listed, besides everyone was always confused baout the actual ‘procedure’. I’m still not listed and my family might vote next time if we’re back visiting in Islamabad.

Now the ECP has said they are preparing new lists and this time it’ll be done through Nadra and door to door data collection all over Pakistan.

Re: Electoral Rolls

I was in Lahore in last list on 2001, it wasnt register based info collection, I remember we were given a NADRA form to fill it in and return to info collector who came with one army soldier and went door to door cause some people didnt want to give the info or forms back :) . they how ever do made enteries to a register as well.
but at that time some of our family members didnt even had Nadra ID card.

so it must have been no linkage info in the electoral rol with the ID cards. now NADRA can enforce it and hence minimise vote rigging.

Re: Electoral Rolls

^ I see. So back then this procedure may have been implemented successfully in few areas only due to lack of proper coordination.
