we have both...in Canada, most people have electric oven...with gas oven, you have a charcoal [burnt] flavour with your roasts...gas fired ovens are better for roasts.

Yes yes, it matters a lot. If you are talking about cooktop then no way you should have electric oven. May be many veterans out there can have equally good results and if i had continued doing on electric cooktop i may have also different opinion but electric cooktop as per my experience is a headache. Specially cooking roti is such a deal. Rice initially are difficult but after 2 or 3 times you get habitual. Moreover electric cooking is slow, Seriously!!! I did not even know this before my exposure. Then even when you put stove off still its hot and you should have calculations to put it off so that your dish may not get residues at bottom.
No doubt electric oven (for baking) is the one to fall in love with. if you can manage separately which is not that tough task then it would be ideal. Gas cooktop and electric oven, best combo!!!

for pizza and baked goods, it doesn't matter...they are all the same...i personally like pizza done in a gas fired oven better. :)

Don't get an electric stove if you have the option of a gas. Get a good oven to start with, and everything will be fine. Plus if the bijli goes out at least you can cook.

welcome…depends what your needs are…i dunno if the cost is an issue in Pakistan because i heard electric power is both erratic in supply and very expensive as well…so, i dunno what your needs may be…so, you decide!

Take it from me, I've used both electric and gas, and gas wins completely for me. Cooking time is really good with a gas stove, and baking is no problem either. Like I said before, if you get a good reputable brand one, then baking will be smooth for you.

haN na…agar roTTii shoTTii time pe khaanaa hai to gas oven le leN, bijli kaa koi bharosa nahiiN kab chali jaaye yaa phir kab vaapas aaye!

Oh for Pakistan, dont even think of electric oven, unless you have a grand budget to pay for generator for the light trippings. Moreover I even dont like the efficiency of electric oven. Go for gas oven. I dont remember which brand was ours, but in Lahore visit the electronic shops at hall road or ferozpur, they will tell you

anyways.....if it gas oven then which one? separate oven or with stove? a friend of mine has a oven attach with stove..

I assume that you do have some cooking range or stove at home , if yes then you can go just for oven. The best thing is check prices, if there is not much difference in only oven and stove with oven then you can buy the 2 in 1. It is usually called cooking range (which is a necessary item of kitchen). May be some innovative products are nowadays in market. My recommendation is just get oven if there is significant difference in price as cooktop you would surely have. You can however increase quantity of cooktop stoves if you buy the 2 in 1. Hope it would help
