Ive seen that on TV they are showing Live Hajj. So Its Eid Tomorrow. Why then when I called my mosque they have an answerphone message on saying Eid is on Sunday. Why do people do this? I dont understand the logic behind this. So should we do Eid even though our mosque isnt ?

In the USA, eid is on different days. Just within Texas eid is on Saturday in Dallas and Sunday in Houston. Similarly parts of NJ are split. Eid in Miami is on Sat.

From what I understand, the logic is that Eid is on the tenth day of the month (Hijja). So just as Eid-ul fitr and Ramadan are determined differently (i.e. some follow Saudi, some go by their local moon sightings), there is similar difference of opinion on when the first day of the month was. If there's a difference on when the first day is, then there will also be a difference of opinion on which one is the tenth day.

by your logic then this should be our prayer timings (for today):
Fajr 9:38 pm EST == 5:38 am in Mecca
Zuhr 4:23 am " == 12:23 pm " "
Asr 7:27 am " == 3:27 pm " "
Maghrib 9:48 am " == 5:48 pm " "
Isha 11:07 am " == 7:07 pm " "

ISNA and ICNA for a change have agreed on Sunday. ISNA was using their astronomical calculation criteria and according to ICNA, it is on the basis of confirmed witnesses of moon sighting in North America.
So you would think that there shouldn’t be a problem, but still we are having eid on 2 different days

b/c it depends which part of the world u r living in. Same Question was asked by Scholars over the tv and the asnwer was given by sayin that it doesn't mean if eid is fallin on saturday in KSA then it should be the same for everyone in the world. One still need to check up with the timin of the moon n stuff

Eid Mubarak to all...Eid ki namaz tomorrow at 9 am...Be on time..Jamaat would start exactly at 9 am(Our Islamic center reminded 100 times ,but every one would show up 1/2 hr late,like every year :) )
