Re: Eid Tea Party

wow sahar that is alot---i thought i was doing so much---oh yeah can you believe--i was first really angry someone i invited called the desi radio show here (very popular in our town)and told everyone i was having an open house lunch, breakfast and dinner and all invited --YUP i was furious---someone called us and said we are coming b/c we got invited through radio--yes and this is someone we specifically did not want coming......

Re: Eid Tea Party

WHAT!!?! That is crazy! Can you call the radio station and complain?

Re: Eid Tea Party

The party came out great, guys! Thanks so much for all of the help.

And thank you, Costco!

Re: Eid Tea Party

^did you take any pictures (of the food, or table?) I'd love to see how it looked!

Re: Eid Tea Party

i forgot :bummer:

Re: Eid Tea Party

Hey my open house was a great success i will try to post pictures i had 110 people show up--it was so much so much fun ---really felt like eid and inshallah we will continue the tradition every year my husband wants to invite 200 people next year!!!

Re: Eid Tea Party

^ Glad to hear that!!

Here are some photos I managed to scrounge up of my Eid party. I didn’t have one main table, but rather stations of food that encouraged people to circulate and chat with lots of different people as they munched.

#1 Sorry it won’t let me save the rotated image! Here’s my poor table toward the end of the evening. The home-made rosemary chicken and sweetcorn spread was a big hit. As was Costco’s mango salsa, smoked salmon, and mini crab cakes.

#2 Again, don’t know why the rotated version isn’t showing up. Here’s the grape & cheese table – that empty plate is where the baked brie used to be.

#3 The dessert table in the breakfast nook

#4 The veggie platter and shrimp platter were on the coffee table in our living room. The shrimp platter finished pretty quickly, so all you see here are the veggies.

The colorful tea cups on some of the tables actually had M&Ms in them that said “Eid Mubarak” and our names.

Sorry there aren’t more pictures of how it was set up. This was the best I could find!

Re: Eid Tea Party

I'm in Maryland, USA.

Baked Brie: IT WAS INCREDIBLY EASY AND DELICIOUS.

A big hit.

I got a full wheel of brie, I cut it in half (so there are now two circles, rather than one). I then put apricot preserves in between the two layers of cheese, sprinkled with a bit of pecans. Then I wrapped it in a sheet of puff pastry, sprinkled pecans and poured maple syrup over that, and then baked at 375 for a while, till golden. Broiled for a few minutes right at the end.

It was soooo easy and so popular, I wish I had made more!

For the Shrimp Platter I just defrosted and steamed frozen shrimp (with tails) and made a marinara dipping sauce.

Re: Eid Tea Party

dats nice..i am from jeddah, saudia arabia...by the way how did u made marinara sauce?

and for brie...which kind of cheese? feta cheese? halloumi or whatelse?
