Re: Eid Menu?
Simple answer shan masala.
LOL
I also use the Shan Fish Biriyani Masala and follow direction & it comes out pretty good. I use Catfish since the meat holds up well

Re: Eid Menu?
Menu for eid day brunch
Halwa
Puri
Channe
Keema
Chicken Karahi
Sheer Khurma
Naan
Maybe Lassi
Re: Eid Menu?
For fish biryani I would say first marinate fish with dry ingredients only (salt, pepper, garam masala ginger garlic paste, little of biryani masala if you are using some packet one) n fry it at high heat, then make masala as you make for normal biryani then add fish pieces in it and mix a little, then layer it with rice, in this way fish pieces don't break n you get delicious fish biryani...for chicken tikka masala try vahchef's recipe, i always make it that way n everyone loves it...
any other dessert suggestion other than sheer khorma, halwa?
Re: Eid Menu?
^ mano04 you can also make kheer or custard.
Re: Eid Menu?
my eid menu is simple and straight forward.
i will go to all my friends houses one by one ..... ;)
Re: Eid Menu?
Eid is always a hard menu to set because we have a big family Mashallah and everyone wants something different ![]()
This year for Eid brunch we are having:
chaney
homemade naan
kheer
thai chicken kebabs
vol au vent cases with qeema and garlic mayonnaise (yes I know it’s a bit of a throwback to the 80’s but we love them! :D)
pecan pie
milkshake- mango for the adults, fererro rocher for the children
We have this quite early compared to other people- around 11.30 -12 and then we spend the rest of the day visiting people and grazing and in the evening we are having a slightly simpler eid dinner than usual:
Roast leg of lamb
roasted rosemary potatoes
yorkshire pudding
bbq chicken briyani
3 types of salad
drinks and juices
and for desert zarda, ice cream and chocolate roulade (we do not like sheer khurma in our family
)
Re: Eid Menu?
mano, thanks for the recipe for fish biryani. I was wondering about fish breaking, but that sounds like a good idea to add it just before you layer. As for desserts, there's always kheer/firni, trifle, or ras malai. I'm sure there are other more traditional desserts as well.
sarmad, lol! That's actually a very excellent menu. Maybe I should try it too.
oceanbed, wow. That's a pretty full menu -- full in the sense that it comprises of all sorts of foods from different cuisines. Your 'slightly simpler dinner' doesn't sound simple at all. ;-)
Re: Eid Menu?
no problem SeaBee, but you have you mix the fish a little in the masala before layering...so fish gets well coated in it.
Re: Eid Menu?
how do u make chilli paneer , sounds yummy !!
Sorry about the delay in posting the recipe. Here it is now - I don't have exact quantities as I tend to use my judgement, so below are approximations:
2 blocks paneer cut into chunks
Fry crushed garlic (3 cloves) and chopped ginger (about an inch) in some oil
Add paneer, and fry until the edges start to brown
Add some chilli oil (about 2 teaspoons)
Add a few green chillies slit long ways
Add light soy sauce (about 2 tablespoons)
Add some peppers (I used 1 small green pepper & 1 small red pepper)
Add some sliced red onions - you can add more veg if you like (button mushrooms, baby corn work well)
Add salt (careful as soy is salty)
I also added a dash of ketchup for tangyness
Fresh corriander
Squeeze of lemon at the end
You can throw all the ingredients together and marinade overnight, don't add lemon though until cooked as paneer will go hard
