I work at the play scheme , there i have got some Muslim kids too. we gave some goodie bags to all the kids in the class, and i even have made posters to share with the kids.
I asked them what is eid to you?
most of them said :Its all about money: 
how about your kids?

We always get eidi in money form from mum, grand parents and khalas, mamoo etc. However, since last 2 years i get presents for the khala/mamoo's kids (cousins) after getting married. My mum still gives them money.

since our daughter will be turning 3 soon, I wanted to her to be aware of Eid. So we put henna on her hands which she so wonderfully kept all night while she slept :) We bought eid presents in front of her for her and her cousin and I kept it in an area where she could see it. So every time she would ask me for her presents I would tell her that she will get them on Eid. That way she knew it was a special day. Same thing w/ her eid clothes. I showed her new clothes to her and told her she'll get to wear them on Eid so she got all excited about it. We also put up lights around the home the night before Eid to get into the celebratory mood. All good fun :)
