1 cup ground almonds, pistachio's
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup oil
1 egg
In a pan add the oil, milk powder and ground nuts and cook till the oil seperates.. add the sugar and coconut. Remove from heat and beat-in the egg real quick. Flatten-out this mixture on a tray and let it cool.. once it's cool form into ladoo'd, u can even roll them in shredded coconut.
they're a bit messy but so good, no? who woulda thunk cream cheese would work so well in chocolate truffles??
Yes, even i was a bit skeptical when i read cream cheese but they turned out great! The rolling in different toppings really makes the presentation look great! I also used different type of sprinkles besides the coconut flakes and walnuts and they looked marvelous.
is powdered milk sold in toronto? i don't recall seeing any, but then i don't usually look for it either. d'oh. any brands i could look for?
Look for Nestle, also in Desi stores or where the "foreign or mexican spices are" in regular grocery stores. Here in the USA I have seen non-fat powdered milk being sold mostly but its not the same as the powdered Nestle which is whole milk.
SGC u can look for dry milk in desi grocery store with the brand name of NIDO its in every desi store yesterday i bought it from iqbal foods in thorncliff or and desi store nearby u..

Gina should we use desiccated, a more powdery and fine coconut or shredded as in coconut strands? Does shredded coconut stick?
Try the death by Chocolate! Its a guranteed hit!! Bake from a mix or buy a store bought German Chocolate Cake. Break the cake into small pieces and arrange half of it in a decorative bowl and pour half cup pf prepared coffee (liquid) over it. Put half quantity of chocolate pudding (home made or store bougt pudding cups) then break into small pieces frozen Heath Chocolate bars and sprinkle half the quantity over the pudding then half quanity of whipped topping. Repeat the layers and Voila!!
