Eid day

What is the tradition for eid in your family? do you guys go to visit family after namaz?.. or do you get together at one person’s house for brunch type thing? Generally in our family we have brunch at my mother’s house every year and then dinner at my aunts house. We usually get eidi as someone comes to visit us in our home and there is always tons and tons of food every house we visit!

share your eid day..

Re: Eid day

well abt us
it was like that

when my father was alive

qauz our relatives lives in pakistan and holland so we reraly went 2 holannd, and there was a time when we did eid in holland with our relatives, they always maked a big drama out of it and trying 2 make some fighting between us

aynways

whenever we read namaz, after that we come home, my mother makes some eid dishes at home.

sewiyan was just a must on that day for breakfast

but these last 2 eid's wih my dad we went 2 a chinese restaurant, to have our lunch!
these were the best eids in my life.

my cousin lives 25km far from us, he comes in the evening with his children or we go 2 him.

the next eid will be very sad, qauz there no more fun without my dad qauz he was alive and he thaught us always 2 enjoy ur every moment of this life and all these festivals.

but know nxt time it wont be like this...

unfortunately my eid days are pretty dull, since we don't really live anywhere close to family, we pretty much just to to eid prayers, go back to work and work extra late to make up for the time we missed to pray, come home, eat and eids pretty much over.

far cry from when we were kids growing up and had to actually dress up and go to peoples places, haha.

Re: Eid day

Usually we go for namaz. I changed my family tridition of switching siwayya with kheer. So, now we are pretty much like the only family who make kheer instead of siwayya. After that lunch is at home. Towards the evening time I hang out with friends and ahve fun with them. Dinner is either out with friends or at home.

This year I knwo things will be different because of my sister who is getting married. Now the whole things with her inlaws is going to kick in and they are probably going to be invited for a meal so have to stay at home during then.

Our tradition has changed over the years. This year Inshallah husband will go to mosque, mum and I will read namaz at home. We then have breakfast, spend time together. Have dinner, and then might go out shopping.

Re: Eid day

Back home with family Eid is so rejoicing! You feel good about buying that designer Junaid Jamshed Kurta, getting ready for namaaz early morning, going to the grave yard to offer fateha to the passed away loved ones, coming home for a photo shoot with family, all the cousins looking good esp. the girls getting together, mom's sawayoon ki kheer and all! Oh and now it's fun handing eidi to little kids, because not too long ago we were on the receiving end. For 4-5 days you keep getting guests coming to wish you eid.
