honestly, maybe it was just the comparative effect of the rest of the mediocrity, but to me, most if not all of Mehdi's suits seemed like worthy purchases. I bought 07-8B, but had my closet not been full of beige already, i'd have gone for 04-5B. also liked the look of 03-2A.
aah, should've mentioned **Khaadi **in the masterpost, too. the Eid stuff is pretty typical Khaadi, if you know what that entails. the you've-seen-it-all-before thing. same patterns, same overall look, nothing special unless you're a Khaadi loyalist; their quality is good, but the wow factor is sadly lacking.
as for stitched suits, are you talking lawn or chiffon/semi-formals? what's your range?

i agree with you, most designers have lost it, the prints are either too loud, or the motifs/embellishments too big/too much. not to my liking either.
i am sure there are people who are still buying them regardless.
as for what i am looking for, is ready made type things as these lawns have gone mad. something that is not all ghareloo but slightly party wear material in casual, and jacket type formal suit. the ones that are in these days. again, not too heavy/loud.

i've not had much experience with readymades myself -- these days with all the loose, flowy silhouettes, even the extra-small sizes stocked by most outlets don't fit me. i can suggest a few, though -- albeit with a disclaimer regarding the deterioration of quality most of them have on offer: they used to be good initially, but they've progressively notched down since. Origins carries a few good semi formals; so does Cross-Stitch. Thredz is another line that has good dinner-wear. Bareeze's Chinyere and Working Woman are both readymade product lines, where the former tends towards heavier outfits for the most part and the latter is casual-chic. Nishat does a pret line too, mostly stitched-shirt versions of their unstitched lawns. another casual-ish line is Daaman.
i believe all of these have facebook pages and photos for you to browse through, and Daaman, Nishat and Thredz have online shops as well.
I have ordered 2 for eid from Feminine Volume3 - decent dresses is making it for me
I like the fact they are so reasonable priced and birdie gave a good account on it so gave me relief.
I dont like to spend a lot on lawn as I dont get to wear it a lot here, so after one or two wear I end up wearing them at home, so dont need fancy suits.
