Eid clothes from inlaws

I was wondering how it is for everyone out there. Did you all get eid clothes from your inlaws for your first eid? Has the tradition been lead on.. as in do you get them every year?? or for atleast one eid? Do your parents provide some sorta clothing item for your husband as an eid gift (say a shirt/ tie.. smthng)?

In my family mostly it’s a big deal to atleast have a new outfit for eid. But in my inlaws it kinda seems that it’s not really that big a deal. As in my husband has been living w/o his parents here for a few years now and he hasn’t had any clothes sent to him (or his younger bro) from their parents for eid. So obv, I didn’t expect they’d send it for me and so I didn’t get anything. For our first we just wore clothes that we got from my parent’s side. A few months down from eid, I think it was dec or so someone was coming over from khi and my mother in law sent me a suit which she said was meant as my eidy… but it was just a casual outfit.. def not smthn you’d wear for eid. But I don’t care for that one.. my husband didnt get one to begin with so I obv didn’t even count.

So yeah… enlighten me girls

Re: Eid clothes from inlaws

I havent recieved eid clothes from inlaws ever (not before we got marreid and not now) and i am ok with that. I try to make a new outfit for eid and hubs doesnt wear shalwar kamez that often so its pointless for him to get new ones made all the time. So he repeats his clothes. I do try to get him a new pair of pants and shirt for eid though since i always grew up wearing a new jora for eid. It doesnt matter who it comes from.

Re: Eid clothes from inlaws

My MIL has never given me Eid clothes before wedding or now. Our first Eid was modest as we both had to go to work. My MIL only sent me 2 joray recently(in beginning of year) through mail but my hubs paid for those because he is the one supporting her as my hubs father passed away many many years ago. She never told me those clothes were for Eid but just said she hoped I like them. One is a casual outfit and the other is nice but I am saving it for my cousins wedding(would be too much for eid anyway). My sister though got clothes for Eid before she got married (1st eid after baat pukhi) and then another outfit on second Eid but first eid for her after marriage. My hubs used to recieve shirts from his Mom every year on Eid but she has stopped doing that after marriage. (Thank Allah..he has too many dress shirts esp. some still in packages) It all depends on different MIL's and their familial tradition. Jora or no jora I love my Mom in law!

Re: Eid clothes from inlaws

I didn't get anything from my in laws

Re: Eid clothes from inlaws

most of inlaws dont give...but its a tradion of eastern culture though

Re: Eid clothes from inlaws

My MIL gave me money before Eid to get couple of outfits made - which of course i loved...since I always like picking my own stuff......but regardless eid or no eid i always get stuff here n there i.e. rings/churrian

Re: Eid clothes from inlaws

I got eid clothes from inlaws before i got married. it happened just once because there was just 1 eid during our engagement period.

this will be my first eid after shaadi and I dont think my inlaws will be giving me any clothes. But my husband has given me a handsome amount to buy clothes , shoes and bangles for eid . and i don't really care if i get anything from inlaws.

i think after shaadi its the responsibility of your husband to buy you eid clothes and not that of your inlaws. dont expect anything from them.

but yes in my husband's family its a tradition for the mother and father of girl to get her eid clothes , sawayan etc as a eidi from mother's house. so i will be getting that also insha allah ! and my parents will also get for my husband an outfit too
as a eidi. but fairly speaking i dont think this is fair but thats the way it is in my inlaws.

i get two joras matching choorian n eidy(cash) every year 2-3 days before eid frm my inlaws :shireen:…ofcourse my fiance pays for the jora n the cash is also frm him.:@:

and yes he gets eidy frm ourside aswell..

Re: Eid clothes from inlaws

No i don't get eid clothes from my in-laws but my parents always try to buy my husband clothes, if they know i am getting him an outfit then they don't. I dont think its about being in-law's "responsibility" or hubbys, I think its about getting gifts from family, and it feels nice. But i think things might be different if we are in the same country as them or if we live with them.
