I always make halwa for the morning but last time I made it for some reason it was such a disaster…its such a simple recipe but I couldnt get it right..it was either undercooked or too cooked…
Pls give me a fool proof recipe..
Also I like seviyan for breakfast too..any one got a easy recipe for this?
Any other ideas for eid breakfast? I want to make something nice for hubby this year inshallah
Halwa sounds good, which halwa do you make? there are so many , carrot halwa, sooji halwa, baisan halwa etc ..
Swiyan is pretty easy ... this is how I do it :
heat two tablespoon oil in a pot ... add two to three cardamom pods to it ... after a minute add the vermecelli to it .. and fry quickly on low heat .. this takes about 2 minutes .. then add milk ...I dont measure the milk.. just make sure you add loads of it .. like nearly fill half the pot ...
Then up the heat and let it boil .. when boiled , medium heat , keep stiring and let the milk boil until in about 20-25 minutes it starts to thicken ... when it becomes much reduced in quantity ... add the chopped nuts ... sugar to taste ... and just 3 minutes before taking it off the flame , add fresh double cream half a cup ... or add condensed milk .. and stir ... it gives that creamy flavour to the siwayan ...
You could make Phaiywian, theyre like saiwiyan but slightly dif taste, and i like them better(YUM). or You can make Firni, my mom always makes it on eid, super yum. But Halwa is a good idea, eat halwa for dessert, or make puri and chanay and you got a halwa puri breakfast.
You can also make zarda.
sunna is to wait till the sunrise and have something sweet...in our family we breakfast on eid with chhohaara [dried dates] pieces socked in milk overnight. This is Lucknauwii tradition :)

We do similar.
We always make sheer khurma on Eid-ul-Fitr, and cook the chhohaara in the milk, then take it out and keep to the side for the morning.
If you cannot make good halwa , then make kheer or firni , they are easy to make and you cannot go wrong.
Roasting the soji to the right point and then adding the right amount of water/milk and then getting it to the desired consistency are muskil muqamat in this rah a ishq and everybody is not cut out for it. :)
