Re: Egyptian people
Actually "Pathans" are the desiest of the desis. There are some Pathans who look identical to Indians, yet claim some type of ancestral link to Afghanistan. I don't mean this in skin color, because many Pakhtuns may be dark as hindostanis.
Egyptians are :biggthumb
bacha jee tha pa kai munga pukhthnana walai raa achai...yara lag pam kawa kana...!
Re: Egyptian people
I have seen photos of Pak army and they had really dark people who were from pathan-abads in NWFP.
Re: Egyptian people
Egyptians are usually extremists - either too religious or too out of control.
they don't usually go for arrange marriage but sometimes it is considered to be ok.
They're nice but nosy.
if you're looking for something specific, let me know. I might be able to get you the detailed informaiton as I hangout with more Egyptians than Pakistanis here.
Re: Egyptian people
Um, yeah anything specific like any special traditions, customs, etc. Do they celebrate eids and weddings differently, how so...etc...
Re: Egyptian people
Ramadan/Eid: they arrange dinners for family & friends. dress up nice usually formal. Just like we do. In Pakistan, we usually take cake or something to Eid dinner or Iftaari. while they usually bring home cooked dish/dessert.
Weddings: are a big deal in their culture. Some families arrange Hinna (mehndi) a day or a couple of days before the wedding date. Some families don't wed their daughters unless they make sure that the guy has own apartment/house. But some are ok with extended family.
Brides wear white dress as all Arabs do.
In US, wedding is usually one day function jointly arranged by both families.
Their gatherings are mostly like our gatherings where friends, friends of friends and their friends - all are invited.
They date openly unlike desis. Shaking hands & hugging is perfectly alright.
Actually all egyptians shake hands including those who wear hijab.
They do celebrate Baby Shower & wedding shower. Also, Mother & Fathers day. They have their own dates for Mothers & father day though.
In US, even conservative Egyptian families are quite modern as compare to Desi families. actually its mostly true in Egypt too.
Again, I know Egyptian families living in US. I can check and get details about typical egyptian culture in Egypt.
Re: Egyptian people
Don't the egyptian and other arabs wear american style wedding dresses? I was kind of shocked for all the conservative hoopla that is then associated with arabs..
Re: Egyptian people
Egyptians are loud. They like to be oversized (shows that they are affluent). Egyptians are back stabbers. Egyptians are cunning swindlers. Egyptians are hipocrates. Their idea of being religious is quiet different.
Not all. I have a few very nice Egyptian friends. But it is difficult to find good and sincere Egyptians. Even Egyptian themselves acknowledge that.

Could be a Hinkian or a Pakhtun who is dark due to the sun.
Despite the many hangups of urdu speakers with Indians, many sure look like their cousins.
As for Egyptian people, they seem to be family oriented and generally respectful of elders.
Re: Egyptian people
Egyptians were the first to kill the westerns tourists.
