Egg Halwa- e-a-s-y

Might not sound appealing, but it is to die for! you have to try to to make your opinion!

2 eggs
1 can sweetened condensed milk (do NOT get ‘lowfat’)
1 stick unsalted butter (please get real butter and dont try to ‘save’ calories by using margarine - ur having halwa for god’s sake so butter it UP!)

15-20 mins cook time
yields a serving for atleast 4-6 ppl easily
(Double everything for more serving)

for best results use nonstick pot (ive never used any other pots for this halwa)

beat the eggs with whisk or fork just enough so white + yolk mix smooth leaving no clumps but try not to make it too foamy

with heat on HIGH add the butter and let it melt (do not let it foam too much) then add the eggs and condensed milk and all you do now is stir stir and stir every min or so.

it will start to bubble and start becoming more ‘solid’ but keep stirring until the ‘wateryness’ goes away and it starts to gather itself. i prefer it a bit on the dry side. therefore, mein tohra zayada bhoon thi hoon. leaving it moist is just fine too, but not watery (15 mins after it starts to bubble, it is cooked) it will be yellow, if you see it turning golden-brown, its beyond DONE! rmr to keep stirring so it doesnt burn!

lemme know how it turns out if u try it or if u have any Q’s!

goodluck!

aaaaaahhhh it sounds good … I wanna have it right away :e6: .. question : does the eggy smell go away or remains in the halwa? :konfused: … also do you mix the condensed milk into the beaten eggs and then pour into the pot? or do you pour the eggs first and then wihtout waiting for a minute you add the condensed milk on top a nd stir and stir?

if your ever trying to impress anyone with 'meetah' use this recipe, you will blow their minds away!

CB-
no, you are right, pour in the beaten eggs to the pot, then without waiting just add the condensed milk to the pot. no specific order, just make sure the butter is melted in there first.

for the smell, which typically always goes away thanks to the sweetness of the condensed milk, what i do sometimes is add a pinch of zafran. ill take a teaspoon of water in a small cup add the small pinch of zafran shreds and mix it with the water for it to get strong and pour it into the halwa when its half way cooked. it work wonders!

Charmed-
Assuming that its a 'stick' you pull out from the packages that have 4 sticks to a pack, 1 stick of butter is 1/2 cup or 4 ounces or 8 Tablespoons - whichever measurement is easier for you :)

Afshi -
I have tried what you do also, but i use that for a breakfast meal, when i make it like ur way it yields an omelet/scrambled egg type of dish, if we are talking about the same thing. the recipe ive mentioned is actual 'halwa' - it will look like 'halwa' and it will taste like 'halwa' - most ppl cannot tell that its even made with EGGS!! i love it when i get the question - whats this made of!? :)

Re: Egg Halwa- e-a-s-y

@arazvi....thank you for that :)....will definitely make it over the weekend.Glad the egg-y smell goes away though.
