Efforts in giving a five star dining experience at home ..

So I know a good few women who put utmost effort in creating that super awesome ambiance, food, serving style and more so one could easily say they try to replicate the feeling one gets while dining at a five star restaurant.

Do you appreciate the effort and look forward to it ? or do you think its best that one keeps it simple and let that "ghar wali feeling " linger in the dawat?

Doesn't matter either way. Both ways are good.

I so wish I could that; I put so much effort in most of the meals I make, but my kids are really young so I haven't even attempt to buy nice table cloths/accessories to create that ambiance at home; But insha'Allah once we have a bigger place with a separate dining room area, I'd be unstoppable LOLs

It depends on the occasion and reason I'd say. My usual entertaining style is casual and effortless but sometimes I like to pull out all the stops and go 5 star style. It was my husband's birthday a couple of weeks ago and I planned a steakhouse dinner party for him at home. I invited another couple, used all my formal silver serving dishes and platters...fine cutlery and dishes...we 4 adults ate in my formal dining room at a beautifuly set table while the kids ate at the other table in the kitchen nook. It was really nice and intimate and perfect for the occasion and amount of people.

As soon as I see that awesome Ambiance & setting on dinning table at home, my mind start doing costs benefit analysis knowing that my bill will be more than what I pay at five star dinning :)

Its the equivalent of "kuch nahi" and "its OK"

My mom and dad like to pull out all the stops...when it comes to food. With dinnerware and setting, they don't get too fancy. But they do put out an elaborate spread and we MashaAllah get compliments for the hard work after every dawat. It's one of the things I'm proud of my parents for; they are both good cooks and what I love most is that Alhumdolillah my parents work as a team from start to finish when hosting a dawat.

Only if someone could help me with a great entry song for that dining experience

If you invite someone to enjoy good company and good food why not top it off with good ambiance?
Everybody likes good food , good company and good surroundings.
If it has element of show then it will be off putting if the purpose is to appreciate your friendships and relationships it is worth the effort.

I and my wife make sure that each party of ours should have a unique wow factor which people appreciate and remember. It is so encouraging to get those compliments.
