Education

Re: Education

that pretty much nails it.

Re: Education

yeah that's what called ignorance ........................ people do say education is important in front of others just for the sake of " kehnay main kia hai" but they don't mean it , so all u get from them is ,a wrong impression .

Re: Education

as i said in my earlier post the option "to either seek education or not" sometimes even become cicumstancial, for instance i know such families from both middle class or below ,where fathers got retired pretty early ( like before 40) for no reason , and so the elder son is forced to bear the brunt of entire family at very very young age , thus minimizing his options to continue his education , and encouraging other sons to follow him.

Re: Education

Education as in general education, yes it's important to know.

Being educated in the sense of getting a degree, it's always good.

We all know many people who have gone far in life with a high school certificate. So, it all depends on the person.

Re: Education

^ I am not surprised that this comment comes from you. I never really doubted that you were a firm believer in unpars.

I'd like to revive this thread in light of the Lal Masjid horror.

What has the Lal Masjid incident made you feel about Pakistan's current education system?

Re: Education

There's a big difference between being educated and just being literate. When more and more people get educated they are better able to assess right from wrong since education is not only about book smarts.
So more and more corrupt-free minded people are produced.

"And once we have given our community a good start,' I pointed out, ' the process will be cumulative. By maintaining a sound system of education you produce citizens of good character, and citizens of sound character, with the advantage of a good education, produce in turn children better than themselves......."(Plato)

Hopefully the number of people who are literate and well educated goes up in south asia.
