Education & Upbringing!!

Does education make a person good?
why we get education just to get a job, for shadi and etc etc?
How much tarbiat counts in our lives?
i mean if we are educated but we don’t have manners and ettiquetes and we don’t know how to deal people or we dont even know what is good and bad?
whats more important education or tarbiat?

how we can teach our children morality, so that none can say a word to our education? Like taleem tu lagta hay cho kay hee nahi guzri?
Ya parh likh kay faida jab yehi sab karna tha?
Parhy likhy jahil

very common pharases for those who are well educated but their character are not worthy of saying them educated !!

have a torch and light on this issue please!!

Re: Education & Upbringing!!

I agree with you. Essence of education is man-making but present setup has somewhat changed the motive of education. It is true that education gives us ability to think rationally, to analyse happenings in a logical and scientific way while upholding morals but we see in newspapers that highly learned and skilled individuals are engaged in organised crimes such as terrorism, kidnapping etc. I do not call them educated. There is certainly a fault in our education system that has failed to infuse moral values, ethics and reduced thinking process. Right from school level, student accept what she is being taught without thinking over it and reproduce the same in exam hall, the result is a certificate what matters today. Parents focus only on this piece of paper because it ensures better future for their kids. We should focus on art of living in a society, moral standards, emotional intelligence along with scientific temper. Second important thing is ambition. These days utmost desire of young generation is to secure a clerical/executive job in a bank. Youngsters don't think of bringing some significant achievement in technology, arts and literature, research and development, social science and public service. You see most of the researchers today only trying to get a PhD. I think water of Arabian sea is more than enough to sink all these certificates and degrees. Next is quality of education, governments of most of the countries are openings more and more colleges which is good but not focusing quality of education being delivered. School teachers are engaged in every other work, their salary is also laughable. Quantity can never match quality, we can show handsome figures and achieve international forum targets but this create serious problem of unemployment because graduates having charming and shining certificates showing above 70% marks do not deserve jobs. My point is to improve structure/system of education at the same time ethical aspects should not be ignored.

Re: Education & Upbringing!!

Humans always needs some surety in some form. You can go and buy something from a very well reputed store yet, you would want something in writing which gives you peace of mind that the product you got has the warranty.

Education may or may not add to the morals, tarbiyat or anything to a person but in our society its that warranty that we look for. Its the education which make us to say "Well he has a masters so he MIGHT BE well behaved". That might be can never be judged until you spend time with that person or see him when he is at his own. But when it comes to a 45 minute interview for a job or a meeting for the rishta, these are things which "help" in making the decision.

At the end of the day, I have seen Ph.D holders voting for Nawaz Sharif so what do you expect :p

Re: Education & Upbringing!!

You are right, sir. I must admit that a change in ideology is also needed.

Re: Education & Upbringing!!

Very good questions. :k: Need a very broad discussion but i’ll give it a shot of my two pennies here.

So both education and tarbiyat are very important for anyone but it doesnt automatically make a person better than others.

What actually it does is polish your natural senses to make the best judgement of what is right and what is wrong.

But again it doesnt guarantee anything, it doesnt make automatic rules. So in the end of the day it comes back to the same person who both educated and brought-up in the best manner to chose the right thing.

But some people ignore all these things and make wrong choices.

Thats why we see them not obeying the laws or not fulfilling the common moral and social obligations. And therefore are called “parhay likhay jaahil” cuz they were blessed with education but are still not complying with the common rules.

On the other hand, you’ll see people with no education but and no proper tarbiyah but still making the best choices and playing by the book. Thats because their natural instincts are so gifted good and they are using it wisely.

As far as the question of picking one of education v/s Tarbiyat is concerned, ill always pic tarbiyat cuz good tarbiyat without education will suffice but not other way around.
