Sometimes things change, views change and people change and they wish to change that about themselves on GS too…
But they can’t…Why? Because the time is limited…
Suppose a girl posts her pictures up on GS and later decides to become a Niqabi and wishes to to delete her pictures a couple of years down the road, how can she? PM the mod or administrator? So they can look at her picture?
Or what if someone wrote something really bad and wished to change it, what then?
And that excuse “be careful when posting the first time” doesn’t really hold much logic…If that were the case, I’d post very little in case I get into an argument and say something which I might want to change later on…
If that becomes the case, then GS surely would cease to be much of a discussion board now, would it?
Amaa ye mod admin sab apney bhai log hain , in se sharmaney ki koi zaroorat nahi
Mr. Lajawab for your kind information there are plenty of girly moderators here aswell ( who are pretty and cute :Pretty: ) you can always talk to them if you dont like any or all Male moderators and admins. If you are too sharmeela to send these girly mods your request of removal of your behaya pictures, you can count on meeee :roman: , I will duly convey your message to them
It’s been debated over and over and over… the jist of it is that having an edit button available perpetually is very counter-productive to the whole idea of an Archived Information Space.
We have had some bad experiences with members who edited their posts months/years after the original posts and rendered whole discussion threads meaningless and futile. That being said, we’re allowing a 24 hours time window to correct any typos or gaps in any facts that you might be presenting… the admins feel that this is more than enough.
For us, it’s a Poka-yoke of sorts… a fail-safe mechanism against losing the context of discussions while positively affecting the quality of discussions on the forums. Not having the Edit button available perpetually:
1- acts as a preventative measure to maintain the context of discussions. Someone who happens to read a thread after a year can still comprehend what was being discussed.
2- acts as an incentive for members to post deliberated and carefully thought out discussions in the first place because you can’t retract you said earlier.
3- saves us useful space and time by not allowing members to drastically modify their posts: space is saved from being wasted in case that thread becomes pointeless ; and time of mods is saved since they don’t have to incessantly review the entire thread to see if it makes sense anymore or not.
Either that or the administration is not in touch with mods…
What’s the use of this ‘achieved space facility’ if anytime someone brings up an old post it gets locked…So many times I have seen it happen and even written about it…
And anyways, I think people should have the right to retract their stuff…
Otherwise, I for one am now gonna start holding back on what I say…Wouldn’t want anyone to get a wrong impression of me about something which I had no knowledge about in the past, nomesayin…

UTD: Maybe...
That is truth, well said lajjo :-)
Threads that were edited years after can be deleted completely if they have no meaning left, to SAVE more space instead, there could be some reasons to edit, and else no one be bothered to edit what they said earlier!!! We need to value those reason, and member requests.
Only a fraction of members make editing, and for the sins of those naive soul's, world order should not be implemented to the whole nation...Give the right to express and re-express
