How do you edit your profile, picture, posts. Bascially, how do you use this!?!

When you go to you Subscibed Threads page, there is a menu on the left-hand side of the page which says "My Settings", from there you can chnage your profile picture and other things, but if you wanted a your own avi, for that you have to wait till you reach 1000 posts....
