My latitude’s cooling fan never turns on when it needs to and it heats up way beyond comfort. You can fry an egg on it. Now i know its possible to change the threshold temperature value in the BIOS to make the cooling fan start running at a lower temperature. I just dont know how. Any ideas guys? Thanks.

I only know how to turn the system off at a certain temperature ![]()
You could try lowering it
Re: Editing Dell Latitude LS bios
maybe a BIO upgrade is available for your lappie and that might let you set the temp threshold
Re: Editing Dell Latitude LS bios
BIOS upgrades are available but they all require me to make bootable floppies first. Thing is, i dont have a floppy drive. :/
Re: Editing Dell Latitude LS bios
can't be possible ... cause I believe you selected your laptop model from the website and they know (must) that your laptop does not have a floppy drive. I'm sure there is an exe available that you can download. I just did this for my laptop (IBM) a few days ago ... they had both floppy images and exes.
Re: Editing Dell Latitude LS bios
Press F2 at start-up to go to BIOS setup and go to Power Management Tab. See if there is an option available to change the setting. If it is anything similar to my Dell C610, then you should be able to find and change it easily.
My BIOS does not allow me to change that and I have the last published one. But it is an old machine.
Re: Editing Dell Latitude LS bios
WitchDr i didnt remember seeing anything under the POwer Management option but i just checked it out again just to be sure and theres nothing there. :(
Re: Editing Dell Latitude LS bios
different laptop, different BIOS ... maybe that's the reason [as he said he's got an old system]
