"Edit" bug..? / this whole thing [Merged]

Hi I have noticed that you can only edit your post as long as no one else has posted after you i.e it has to be the last post in the thread. The “edit” button won’t show up on the remainder posts, within the same thread, under your name. I think it’s some sort of a bug, or maybe the configurations are set in such a way..?

Re: "Edit" bug..?

Its an issue on your side. I can edit my posts regardless of what page i am on or who has posted before or after me.

Re: "Edit" bug..?

You can edit your own post within 24 hours of making the post. You can edit the title of the thread within 5 minutes of opening a new thread. If you need a change after that, in either the thread title or your post, you should contact the relevant forum moderator.

Hope it helps.

Re: "Edit" bug..?

Thanks for the clarification. But, why not just leave it on all the time, "if possible". unless there's some usability or security issue associated with it. It would make more sense..no?

this whole thing...

of not being able to edit after 24 hrs sucks...we need to get that unlimited time frame to edit posts back..

We had some bad experiences, where members edited their posts months/years later and rendered whole discussions meaningless/empty. This defeats the purpose of a discussion forum. Ofourse, members should be able to fix typos etc, and that is why they have a 24 hour window to edit any mistakes. The other prupose is to ensure that people think before they post.

Let me clarify further, that if you need a post of yours edited, you can contact the moderator with a reason. They have done it in the past, and will do so for legitimate reasons. But "changed our mind" is not good enough. Its unfair on other members who have replied after you by investing their time and energy to respond or carry on a discussion.

I hope its clear. :)
