The Economic Survey of Pakistan for 2005-2006 was released yesterday.
And the Budget is supposed to be released today i.e. Monday.
The survey, always a disputed set of documents, this year says that ;
Poverty has been reduced to a 23.9% during the period.
Defence spending has gone up by Rs. 17.6 billion
Expensive oil and the October quake affected growth.
The services sector grew a 0.8% more than expected.
The agriculture and manufacturing sectors remained slow and made only a 2.5% against expected 4.2% and 8.6% against an expected 12.6% respectively.
