I recently purchased a microSDHC card off of Ebay. As opposed to popular Chinese sellers, this one was sold by this guy in NJ.
Its a 32 gb card, advertised Class 4 and I paid about $60 for it.
Once i got it I saw that it said Class4, but not a very trusting soul I tested it. I was barely getting 2 MBp/s (so a Class 2). As i wanted to have a zippy experience on my phone I asked the guy and he was giving me a hard time so I opened a ticket with Ebay.
They said that I’ve been a member for such a long time (i’ve been there over a decade) they will send me a shipping lable and refund the money once the card is returned. That link wouldn’t work and going back and forth a few times didn’t do anyting.
THis morning I get an email from them that they have denied my claim and I’m not getting anything. I just sent them the following message:
“This decision is not right. I was sent a product which is defective and the advertisement was totally false. One of the reasons people take chances on Ebay is because of the support that Ebay promises its members. If that support and backing is not there I, and probably a majority of buyers, would stop making purchases here. Please reconsider your decision. Its not about the $60 that I’m losing, its about the faith I have on Ebay.”
I had trouble with a seller once, so I opened a ticket, but with paypal. The problem was that they never shipped my purchase and kept making excuses when I asked for the shipping number. Once I opened that ticket, it didn’t take long for me to get my product. Well, I hope everything works out well for you inshAllah.
Never buy anything from Ebay that ships from China, be it memory cards or Nike Shoes! Usually the process to resolve complaints is pretty straightforward, you open a ticket, they give you a label to send it back, and they use an automated system to track it and refund you when it goes through. However, if there is an exception to this, for instance you’re late in sending the item, the system automatically denies the claim. After that your best bet is email, back and forth which is time consuming and depending on the item’s worth might not be worth it. My guess is that you’ll get your $60 back, but it might take a few days. They might even ask you to ship it yet one more time, so this time make sure you do.
I sold more then 4000 items on ebay, so i know how hard it is to deal with customer who whine a lot for nothing. Well normally they can’t even read description correctly and then blame the seller and leave negative ratings
I dont sell/buy stuff through ebay much (I am totally a craigslist guy) but the last experience that I had was good, at least in terms of customer relationship. I ended up ordering the wrong keyboard for my laptop and the vendor really helped me through to get the replacement. We communicated a lot over the phone and it worked out just fine at the end.
