This is another question I heard on aalim online. Apparently we are not permitted to eat food prepared by a non-muslim. So does that mean no more eating out unless its at a Halaal restaurant with muslim chefs.
Also does it mean we cant eat stuff from supermarkets such as bread cakes biscuits or does it not go that far?
My best friend is Jewish and she makes the most amazing cakes which I eat. Do I have to stop eating them now. Also when muslim man is married to a jewish or christian woman who has not converted surely he can eat the food she prepares. Is that not the same thing? Please can someone shed some light onthis?
Thanks
I dont know how to tell my friend that I cant eat her cakes anymore.
instead of asking other, ask your self would God really punish you for eating a cake made by your friend out of love and as a good freindship gesture...but your friend happens to be a non muslim. Do you see any harm in this whole scenario that God would punish you for?

YUSUFALI:This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).
arrey yaar its not like that. when u visit any resturant do you ask whther the cook is muslim or non-muslim?
does it really matter who is cooking?
even at reatsurants ppl do ask for what is the base of some sauce or soup or what type of shortening they use. I think the issue is more of if it is a non muslim cook they may not follow your dietary guidelines because they are unfamiliar with them.
its like if you have food allergies, u ask if there is shellfish in something or peanuts etc. if someone who does not know, or does not know what to look for cooks
I have had very sincerely prepared meatloaf which had pork in it, biscuits and gravy where the gravy was pork based, beans with a pork base, vegetable soup with a beef base, and chicken curry with a fish base.
and I did not know in any of these cases that there was something else in there. Now my issue was just with pork but you get the idea.
I think confirming that the food meets your needs is not a wrong thing to do, but blanker statements that you can eat food prepared by non muslims is just over the top and incorrect.
as long as it's halal....but would a non muslim cook worry about it being halal or non halal?
If the owner/manager of hte restaurant is muslim, yeah...
there's a pakistani restaurant over here, where the cooks are mostly hispanic...the halal kfcs have non muslims working there as well..
What happens if you are hungry and eat non halal meat ?
do you have to do some sort of repentence or is it a ticket to hell.
Yea, what if a Muslim person is in an entirely non-muslim country where there are no halal places to eat or no places that sell halal meat, what would a Muslim person do?
You can eat food prepared by Non-Muslims if all the ingredients are Halal.
Normally Aalims ask not to eat that food becasue you never know what pot are the using to cook that food, u never know if they have cleaned up pork on same cutting board they are using to clean up you "halal" chicken etc.
Ask your self what will you find easy to do, not to eat or investigate about the ingredients and utensils used by which your friend may feel offended?
Lets boycott all McDonalds, Burger Kings, KFC, Pizza Hut Thank you Alim Online for saving my aakhira :YES!:, now I will also boycott local restaurants who were serving halal food but have non-Muslim helpers
