Eating spaghetti gracefully !

Can you?

I cant for the life of me! I dread having spaghetti or noodles or siwayyan at any formal events. I know the best way to eat it, is to rotate your fork in it for a few seconds and then neatly tuck a mouthful but hey ! doesnt work for me !

What do you guys think, are you the ones who feel comfortable eating spaghetti in formal setting? can you eat it gracefully :cb:

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

I try to take as smaller chunks as possible :hehe:

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

Yeah…I can do the rotating .. but I avoid eating such things at formal places. Actually I avoid eating at formal events:bummer:

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

Shak, dude, I can, but imagine you , eating one or two spaghetti strings at a time :cb:

LP, I feel, that , the rotating bit leaves it tasteless! its like eating a huge lump of aata ! its much more fun to eat spaghetti in a “spread in every direction” manner !

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

At a formal event, the taste doesn’t matter to me. I try to finish off the task of eating as quick as possible. Mera bas chaley tou mai khaye baghair he wapas aa jaon, but that would be rude:bummer:

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

Btw I rotate 3-4 strings at a time, not more.

Rotate your fork against a table spoon. That gives enough support to your ball of spaghetti that it won’t drip or drop

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

You spin your fork into it, cut the excess off with your knife. Duh!!

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

I used to be like that years ago. I used to envy people who could eat so “bindaas” anywhere . Then with time, I learnt to stop caring about others and just learnt to enjoy good food.

Though there are still certain types of food that make me nervous as heck , if i try eating them at formal setting :frowning:

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

I do the fork and spoon thing - works like a charm!

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

Duh! how long does it take you to do each lukma ! waise I am an expert at having it all rounded up on the fork without having to use a knife at all. Problem begins when I am about to eat it . Its usually too big of a morsel and I end up with bits of it hanging about that just seem too awkward !

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

I don’t know, doesn’t take too long lol … I’m pretty much an expert though. :cb: Italian cuisine has always been a fave

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

Never had an issue with this myself either…if the wound up morsel is too much for a mouthful, maybe “wind” less? Or cut the spaghetti first so that the length is less? :hmmm:

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

^That’s what I do..

I just cut the spaghetti shorter so I’m not needing to wind it round and round then piling loads into my gob in one go..

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

i think you can never eat spaghetti gracefully unless someone feeds you.

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

What surface of the table spoon is preferable? Concave or convex? Much obliged.

^ start with the flat handle side.

Ladies, don’t cut the spaghetti. You cut it, and next time around, you are left with small pieces that will just slip and slide away from your fork.

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

TLK, you must have heard:

“paaNchoN ungliyaaN ghee meN aur sar kaRhaaii meN”

so, how about the desi ishTyle of eating spaghetti:

“paaNchoN ungliyaaN spaghetti meN aur muNh plate meN”?

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

I do the fork with the spoon thing when eating spaghetti. I rotate it with the spoon on its side, and by using the concave side of it for rotating.

Re: Eating spaghetti gracefully !

I simply just cut it. I know!! probably a crime in spaghetti world…but gotta keep the grace and lipstick on :hehe:
