in pakistan its common practice to eat sehri before the fast and everyone who fasts eats sehri..i was brought up thinking [almost] that if u dont eat sehri its a BIG DEAL and u dont get the full sawab for ur roza so u must eat sehri
but when i came to the usa i saw that a lot of muslims fast without eating sehri…they just dont wake up to eat sehri, just wake up for fajar namaz…
like before they sleep they have it planned that they r not ging to eat sehri…
irem sis since u r not one of those who will ask for tons of hadith and Quranic references to believe what i say, let me make it simple…
sehri is very important and there is a hadith (i dont recall properly) which says that sehri is the difference between fasting of muslims and of other religions…
and also the Prophet :saw: has emphasized on sehri so much that he says that even if u dont feel like eating, eat one date…
Re: eating SEHRI before fasting - how important is it?
i have always heard the same thing as Armughal discussed above - you should try at all costs to have your sehri. i used to hear, even if it’s a sip of water. i THINK, someone correct me if i am inaccurate, that we get sawaab for our sehri (someone please correct me nicely, if i am wrong).
Irem, i found two hadiths regarding it from this page:
